If the KDP was the problem, it should oil down the driver's side of the engine more than the passengers's side.

Cummins just called for an ok to pull the head. Said done a compession test and found leakage in no 1 cylinder. said valve or piston.
88,000 miles on the original engine 87,000 on this one.

I'm not sure yet. this cummins shop works around the clock and it is in the shop now.. waiting for a call to find out what they find. Hope it is a valve .
Actually the first engine replcement was a short block so this is the original head.
First engine was a number 6 piston meltdown. Pyrometer had been installed wrong side of turbo and the gauge reading inside was 300 degrees (so i have been told) hotter than we were reading on the gauge.

Cummins called and made my day. Said have three cylinder walls scored and number 1 piston is melting.
Got gauges, nothing has been showing hot on gauges? They are saying might be from over fueling but are not sure. Have the Bosch 300 injecters and an Edge. Doesn't seem like these mods should cause these engines to melt down. (88,000 on first one---75,000 on this short block.
Waiting for some estimates--- saying bore out and oversize pistons or reman engine ?
What is best route ? Just put a new injector pump and starter on it. Ats tranny and good body, bout have to repair it. Expensive boat anchor.

Newer the better.....stay away from the "53" Block (Tons of info on here about that)......ONE might be able to find a RV 275 Long Block (Talk to Haulin in Dixie...i THINK he has a RV-275 engine in his).....stronger stuff inside...and just use your IP, APPS, Harness, manifold, turbo and such.....I think that would work better for you anyway due to your heat issues....that engine was built to take heat! Other than that....man...im am truley sorry from one Cummins owner to another...........

ALSO...did they at least lube it? Man....11K....that is a hunk......BUT that is comming from Cummins....

No, you need a '98.5 - '02 engine. Does not have to be out of a Ram, but that would make it easier for the shop.

Maybe there's something wrong with the new IP which caused it to over fuel the engine. The timing of this seems more than coincidental. Good luck, Herb.

PS: I have a great Billary morph pic if you dare to see it!
