spuddering while driving

while driving down the highway engine started spuddering. when i pulled of the road it shut down. it started right up and check engine light stayed on. FP at 70mph is stays about 7.5 and 12 at an idle. drove for about 30 more miles and continued to spudder every now and then. pulled over and disconnected edge box then continued home. didn't do it the rest of the time(about 25 miles). codes are; pcu: p1693; ecu: p0230 & p1689. i noticed yesterday that the FP would drop to 2 at WOT. i read an article from blue chip diesel that if the FP is 5 or above there wouldn't be any problem. i'm not sure what the problem might be. any help would be appreciated. thanks alot in advance. Bill P.S very new at the diesel thing.

..and 1689 is "no communication between ecm & injector pump module". I've replaced pumps for this one.

The 1689 is usually indicative of a processor failure in the injection pump, and time for an injection pump replacement. However, since your lift pump is running low pressure, you may solve the problem with a new lift pump.

I had a 1689 and it was due to dirty connection on the IP connector.

Between the codes and the low WOT fuel pressure, I'm betting on a new lift pump....
