slave cylinder went out?
slave cylinder went out?
I just installed a clutch and presure plate. Now i have no clutch at all. I'm guessing i have to bleed the slave cylinder but i dont know where to start to do that.. Any Help would be great.
Clutch is bled much the same as brakes. Make sure the reservoir is always full throughout the whole process. Open up the bleeder screw on the slave cylinder and wait if fluid will start coming out. This may take up to ~ 2 min. If the gravity bleed does not work and no fluid comes out, get an assistant and do this: With the pedal depressed open the bleed screw for a few seconds and close again. The pedal must stay down till the screw is closed. Let the pedal up, wait a few seconds, then depress the pedal, open the bleed screw again and repeat as many times as necessary. It should not take more than about 10x to do this to get the air out. Do not pump the pedal violently when bleeding as this will foam up the brake fluid and slow down the bleeding process. If the reservoir runs out of fluid, you will have to start all over again.
No bleed screws on the 99 or at least not on mine anyway. When we put a new one on out at Forest City Diesel, Keith had to bleed the entire new system off the truck by letting the slave hang down low and filling from the top. Takes a while but works real well. Good luck.
Im going to guess and say the slave went out on ya. Mine did about 2 months ago. Ordered a complete unit online for around 175 and put it on in about 30 mins. Comes ready to go full of fluid
