separting axle shaft from hub assemblu

ok wheel bearing failed while driving and took out my caliper and looks like maybe the yoke of axle shaft. got hub assembly out with the axle shaft but cant remove axle shaft from hub. i tried penetrating oils etc. ive been beating axle end but now the end is mushrooming. any tips on getting axle shaft out from hub after removal? I would think it should just slide right out. Am I doing something wrong? thanks for any advice in advance

If the bearing fried it probably got hot. Heat wrench AKA tourch is the onlything I know to do. Probably need to get a new shaft any way would be my vote.

It must have got to hot when the bearing went out and made the shaft expand
because the heat will do that to the metal and wont go back to the way it was after.
sorry man better luck next time..

thanks for the reply. your probably right. the rotor and such was red hot when i finally made it home. i thought the metal would shrink back though but i guess not. i was able to separate the u- joint and now will probably just buy a new wheel hub assembly and the yoke part of the axle shaft with new u-joints. its not worth the effort trying to get it pressed out if its swelled permantely. thank you for your timely response though. i appreciate any and all advise.
