rough start. spuratic rpms
i have a 2003 2500. it has the quadzilla in it. my truck has been taking a long time to start lately. i have to crank it for about 30 seconds. it used to fire up first crank. i wasnt too worried about it till more recently. now while i am driving, at about 2000 rpm, it feels like the tranny is slipping for a second, over and over again. and while cruising at constant speed, it losses power every once in a while. but at anytime, if i punch it out, it shifts perfectly, and has great power. the tranny was built by a local guy here, and has about 20,000 miles on it, and it never gets hot. its throwing a code 0700, but theres no check engine light. i still pull a trailer every day, because i need this truck to work. and there is no difference with or without a 10,000# trailer. any ideas? im really worried about getting stranded. thanks.
I have a hard start issue also on my 03. Dealership said it was the lift pump but they are full of crap. Been working too long of hours to narrow it down between a High Rail Pressure Sensor, Fuel Control Actuator, High Pressure Relief Valve, or a leaking/cracked Injector. The other two things that can cause grief is the Cam Shaft and Crank Shaft position sensors (same part #).
What I have done is to put 16oz of Power Service and 16 oz of Seafoam in my last two tanks. It helped shorten the long start but my truck starts every time.
If your truck will not start, get a two liter bottle and drain the Fuel Filter canistor into it. Leave the line open and turn your key to on to see if you get fuel flow from your lift pump. (poor man's way to test)
My truck would always start after draining the fuel, weird, I know.
Can't wait till I get a week or so off to track everything down.

i put in sea foam, it didnt seem to help. my lift pump is maybe 10,000 miles old. my truck always starts, and never stalls. and runs great at wide open throttle. its just when im cruisin around 2000 rpms for a while, it acts up.
