Lightbulb rough miss while hauling

Yesterday while hauling 3 vehilces down the West Virginia Turnpike my '05 3500 quad cab dually started missing, it was a real hard miss, I stopped and drain the fuel filter thinking I might've got something in fuel but it continued missing. The check engine light came on and I pulled the code it was Crankcase or Crankshaft (can't remember which) position sensor, does this sound to be a serious problem or just hopefully a electronic short.

If you need an hour to replace a crank sensor on an 05 you must be doing it with your eyes closed! Just ribbin ya! I see your name "johns99" which would indicate the pita crank sensor where you had to r/r the starter. The common rail engine has it right up near the crank balancer and is very easy to change.....but I'd be looking at the wiring pretty good too.

Anyway thanks for the resonse, I'm glad I found this site I have a feeling it will be useful when trying to figure out the best computer for my truck will be.

Chances are they probably don't stock the part if that's what is actually needed. It hasn't been a common prob from my experiences.

I can't help in WVa. but just across the river from Weirton, WVa. in downtown Steubenville, Oh. you can find DiNovos Dodge. They are a multi generation, family owned dealer. I was there last winter visiting family, had a tire problem, under warranty. My selling dealer screwed up the warranty when they put it in Star's computer but the nice folks there stayed with me until I got the calls made to fix the warranty, again. I truely don't know about there diesel guys but they've been there along time and they seem to care.
