Shifting into overdrive while hauling 8-10K
Hey all,
Did some heavy tree work last weekend and wound up hauling b/w 8-10K lbs. I noticed the 48RE would not shift into overdrive unless I did it manually. Is this normal? I turned it off while I was accelerating, turned it on once I was up to speed but it wouldn't kick in. I was on flat smooth roads 90% of the time.
thanks Jamie

I would agree to use your tow/haul mode at first. Then once you are at say about 60ish mph.....push the button again and just ease off the accelerator briefly.......and it should shift into 4th. Once it is there, just accelerate on up to your cruising speed and it should stay there and be fine.
