retainer clip

I'm swapping master/slave cylinders and I'm struggling trying to get the clip off the clutch/ master arm. Cut it off? I'm going to go put the slave on =\

The slave had a plastic cap on it with two arms which I thought were just for shipping, but the old slave had the cap with the two arms cut- so I did the same to the new one and put her in. I'm stopping for a few minutes on account of rain then I'll go wrestle the clip again soon =(

I bent the clip off- I couldn't get the right method to work in the space I had.

New problems: How do you get the master cylinder out? What is holding it to the firewall? My strong arm tactics have gotten me nowhere.

Secondly I'm trying to get the wire from the master to the fusebox diconnected and I've near torn the bracket off the fuse box trying to get to it I assume I need to slide a screwdriver into it for it to release?

Keep with me fellas- I'm trying to get this done and am just a mechanical idiot

(I'm also posting this in my slave cylinder thread- just trying to get advice quickly =P)

If it's anything like the earlier trucks you just rotate the master 1/4 turn.

Ok just figured that out, but thanks. I've got it in and thought I was done, but no peddle pressure. I suspect some how I screwed up connecting the quick connects. This is why I have big thanks on my sig to TRE and PDW for working on my truck cuz I sux at it =\

i dunno if releasing the pushrod before connecting the two would have anything to do with it or what if anything make sure ur quickconnet is secrue and on still and everything else is good then take the cap off the resivoir and take the slave back out and pump it by hand to see if you get any bubbles to rise you shouldnt have any casue its a seal package but i dunno i just did mine yestarday and i got pressure right way but i didnt release my pushrod before i installed it..... Do you have any pressue or absolutly none?

Very little pressure. I have to hold the peddle to the floor to get it to start so I'm also wondering if I just need to adjust the arm- like I have it set up so I can't press the peddle in far enough to disengage the clutch.

I'll try both in the morning and hopefully have the truck done before work.

i dont have that one i just got the one from mopar my pedal comes back a little bit farther then the brake pedal so if its not retracting that far i would definatly try adjusting the pedal pushrod it would eliminate that then it would have to be air in the lines how that happend i have no clue unless you forgot to hook something up right?

Hold the slave cylinder vertically with the pushrod facing the ground. If this is not possible due to the master cylinder line, position the slave as far vertically as possible without putting excessive load on the master cylinder line. The slave cylinder must be lower than the master cylinder.

Remove the master cylinder reservoir cap.

Slowly push the slave cylinder pushrod into the slave approximately one inch, watching for air bubbles in the master cylinder reservoir. Air in the release system should be purged after 10 to 15 strokes of the slave cylinder pushrod.

After all air is purged from the system, slowly push the slave cylinder pushrod back into the slave and reconnect the two bands of the retaining strap.

Install the slave cylinder with the retaining strap in place. The retaining strap will break free with the first stroke of the pedal.

i got that from here,http://www.carolinaclutch.com/Hydraulics.htm

i dunno, thats what happened with me so i said forget it and just bought a sealed assembly from dodge, yours should have been a sealed assembly also tho from SBC

try what the one guy said have someone push on the clutch pedal i read that works too good luck.... i know if had me frustrated
