Replaced Lift pump still won't start...

I just replaced a lift pump on my 98.5 Dodge, due to the other not pumping at all. Have bled the lines. I have gotten the truck to start momentarily (upto 10 minutes), then it acts as though it has run out of fuel. Any suggestions...

Sounds to me like you have an air leak someplace. You need to go back over everything on the fuel system and locate any potential problems such as it could be anything from a loose fitting or line to a cracked fuel line to even a plugged fuel line. Good Luck

Myself and a couple other guys have found our fuel tank vents plugged. The fuel wouldn't flow too well without the tank being able to breath. Mine would suck a bunch of air whenever I remove the cap, that's how I found I had a problem.

I have good pressure from the injector pump through the high pressure lines. The vent on the fuel tank is clear, and visually inspecting the lines, there are no indications of cracks.

you probly did this.. crack open your lines at the head put some paper towls under the fittings and crank it for about 12 sec (after you see preasure at the filter). do this about 4 times or till you see fuel in the paoer towl.
NOW GENTLY SNUG THE fittngs dwn and do this agan (they should still be on the loose side to let air kind get out).
the eng should be making noises like tring to start, if it dose let it run and snug them dwn so as not to leak, then shut off and do final torq.

What happened to make you think you needed to replace your lift pump? Did your truck just crap out on you or something? Reason being: If you did have a sudden problem the lift pump may not have been the problem. Maybe timing or a dozen other possibilities :. Also are you getting sraigt fuel when you prime your system? Or is the fuel bubbly? bubbly fuel = air in lines, straight fuel= other problems. If you do in fact have air in your lines you may check your fuel heater. I know I searched for hours trying to find my air leak until I by passed the fuel heater and it cranked right up.
Hope some of this wil help, and good luck!

Re:Replaced Lift pump still won't start...

After my truck would not start, the first thing checked was to see if I was getting fuel, I started at the fuel filter. When it was determined that no fuel was coming into the filter, I pulled the lift pump. Then i connected the lift pump to a battery to determine if it was working.

I have just noticed on dodgeram.org that there are 4 banjo washers that are required. Could not changing them out be causing my problem?

Is it possible to put the banjo washers on backwards and get the problem i am having? I'm 45 miles from my truck and won't be back that way for a couple of days, to see if that is the problem.
