Pulling power problem--little one.

Hi there, I have a stock 1999 Dodge diesel. My problem is I pull a 21 foot fifth wheel and a 17 foot ski boat behind that when going to the lake. All low end power and torque is fine it's when I'm going 65 and 70 in overdrive, there is no top end power. Mainly it's when going up hills or when the AC is on or both. If I really mash down on the pedal it will shift (automatic) down but it doesn't make much gains to speed up but just holds steady until I get to the top of the hill. My question being can anyone suggets an aftermarket add on to help out with this probelm, maybe one of those power pucks or something like that.

Edge EZ or equivalent makes a big difference.

You should go to the links button at the top of this page and get some onfo from these vendors.

IMO, what you get wth Banks is overpriced. You can get this power with less $$$ . Also Banks adds use to say the mods won't void a warrantee. One word, BUNK.

i had a stuck waste gate and was overboosting causing fuel de-railing. it ran good on the low and mid range under 3/4 throttle. over that it ran lazy. you might invest is some gauges to keep on top of its running.

When I added my EZ, I found that I had much more "pull" at the upper rpms than I did before. Without a load, I can punch it at 65, and I'm still being pushed back in my seat as I cross the 80mph mark. I do have larger injectors, but I had those before the EZ, and the power difference is stiill very noticeable.

Since you've described your truck as being able to maintain the speed, just not accelerate it seems you are at the threshold of the pulling capabilities. Of course it may be ok, but you may expect your truck to drive the same with or without the trailer like I do . I cast my vote that you would be pleased with the EZ edge upgrade and gauges.
