In Montana there are only two guys to patrol the entire state.
My understanding is they only hang out at the scales on I-90.
There used to be more but the state realized it wasn't worth it.

Yep, it was at the scales. Had a small load of cattle in a gooseneck. No issue with weight, just the brand/health inspection and while we're at we're going to dip your tank.

here in ontario, I do not know anyboody that has had their tank dipped in a pickup, best thing to do is fill jerry cans with dyed diesel, then drive off the fuel station property, then fill. ( in ontario, the stations selling dyed diesel will call authorities if they see you filling with the dyed stuff.)

I think you shouldnt use the dyed stuff in your trucks. The road tax is on the fuel for the reason. It pays for the roads, for the tree huggers, and for AIG.

But my friend looked into this, as his hunting club closed down and has about 2000 gals of dyed diesel to get rid of. some of the states he looked up ranged from 10000-15000 bucks for using the dyed fuel.

I would like to think that i wouldnt, but who knows? I can usually count on the local gas station to type in the wrong price to the machine. This past summer my friend filled up his truck and the fire departments engine with diesel that was $4.69 a gallon, but where only charge $.47

There was a small auto dealer near Elma Washington who's lot trucks were checked. Tax evasion is a serious crime, dealership owner will probably never see the end of that hassel. I have never been dipped in 300k+ driving diesel across US.
