Is premium marine diesel ok to use?

Am in the middle of a fuel filter change, just went across the street and bought some Marine premium diesel, since it was the closest place for several miles of here.
I was just about to fill the canister and noticed the fuel I bought is pink, not yellowish green like the stuff that came out of the filter canister.
Is this ok to use or will it cause damage or.......?
Thanks for your help.

If it's just a filter can full, then it's ok. It's dyed red, not pink, indicating it for off road use only. Don't get caught with any of it in your tank. Big fines will follow. It's red because there's no road taxes collected on it.

im wondeinrg if anyone has actually got caught smoking (red?) do cops really pay attention to that sort of thing? i guess depends where you are from. i have been tempted a few times being enticed by the price. im sure if busted though.. it sure wouldnt be worth it.

if you plan on making a long road trip at night.. would you even be able to tell? does it smoke ALL the time or only if you romp on it?

daily driving.. my rig doesnt smoke at all.

Smoke is the same but just a few gallons of red dyed fuel will dye your whole tank load for several fill ups.

They've given up on dipping tanks for offroad fuel in many states, it just isn't economical. Costs more to dip than the income from fines.
Seems I hear the most tales of dipping from the SE.

the only way to get checked is if they dip your tank?

what would cause anyone to suspect offroad diesel to even warrent a dipping? well, i guess besides the attendant ratting you out for driving away from the offroad tank? lol)

The only place to get dyed fuel in my town is the MFA station (no attendants). I've never been dipped, and our company has never been dipped (with our equipment fuel tanks in the back of the trucks). However, the DOT people CONSTANTLY sit in the neighborhood next to the station watching that pump and nab guys all the time. I ran red all the time when it was B20, but now even the dyed fuel is low sulfer. What a complete crock. Say goodbye to the legendary long-life Cummins.

EDIT:

Red smoke would be pretty slick for the track, kindof like fuel flavors for the alky cars.

No, there is no visible difference in the smoke. The primary way they check is by dipping your tank and looking for the dye. I've heard they can also analyze your exhaust and detect the dye as well, but not 100% sure on that one.

Around here, they primarily look for farmers and ranchers and having a bulk tank on the back of your truck really makes them look. The DOT will go around to cattle and equipment auctions and dip tank since they can find a bunch of trucks in one place and it's easy to hit them all. I've also heard of some checkpoints where they were dipping tanks. Haven't heard much about it lately, but it was pretty popular when the diesel price was in the $4-5 range.

I have never seen anyone dipping tanks in NJ or PA. It seems like they would need a warrant for this.
