poping and stutering

ok my buddy francis212 put some new injectors in and now he has stated that if he goes 60 to 70 and goes WOT he hears a poping sound and the truck stutters. i told him to check the tubes and he said there is no fuel leaks or anything of that nature. asked him the procedure he took to change everything, and he did everything correctly. got any ideas on y its popping and stuttering. he also said he has a intercooler boot leak that he is taking care of but not sure if this could cause the problem. also said it only does this and WOT , not just cruisin around.

What are the stats on the truck? If equipped with a CP3 Injection pump it sounds like he is running out of fuel. It could be the lift pump not suppling enough fuel to CP3 or CP3 pressure dropping off because of the increase in fuel from the new injectors.

This is commonly called "Bursting" by the Chevy crowd who also use a version of the CP3 we use in the Dodge trucks.

If you have an air leak between the turbo and the intake horn, that will underpressurize the manifold and cause the MAP to cut down the fueling rate. The symptoms you describe are typical of that sort of problem.

What model year? is it a third gen? if it is he is starving the CP3 of fuel.

I have occassionally noticed rapid popping, no studder, at WOT. Not real loud! Only hear it when exhaust bounces off an overpass sidewall or barrier of some kind. Is this the same? I fairly positive it's not my MAP sensor.
