Help! Had leveling kit installed and now i have a poping in my steering..

I had a top gun customz levling kit installed and some new BDS shocks. Now at slower speeds (usually) i am getting some poping when i turn the wheel.. most noticable is at slow speeds or accel from a stop and turning my wheel to the left. it happens very quickly after turning the wheel only 3 inches or so...it is also doing it at other times like slow speed turns to the right when im about half way to lock. can anyone give me some advise as to what i could do. the guy that put on the levling kit is telling me that whatever he did wouldnt have effected the steering...i would take it back but im in college station and it was done in fort worth over the hollidays. On top of that the fron suspension is also squeaking like crazy...any help would be awesome...thanks, Jason

Could be alot of things, I think you need to figure it out because it will drive you nuts until you do, I would have them start by re tourqing everything.

You may want to check to see if it is the shocks loose. The bolt that holds them will get tight before actually squeezing the rubber gromet of the shock and it will "dance" up and down until you tighten it more. I took a large prybar under the shock end and pryed up off the axle housing to see the movement and tightend bolt till there was no more movement. I think the aftermarket shocks rubber bushing/sleeve is just narrower than factory and you have so slightly "bend" the bracket as you tighten shock bolt so the new one won't move around. At least that was my noise.

I had the same thing when I installed my leveling kit. Turns out the bolts came loose and it made the noise when I turned the wheel slightly. Try that first, hope it works for you.

Hey man, it might be your track bar. I went through a couple of those on my 2000.

Does it do it when it rocks side to side?

Give me a call and I can take a look at it for you, I might be getting my FASS today also... just shoot me a PM.

VERY IMPORTANT!! Check your tie rod ends, and steering links, you dont want those things comming off going down the road.

Have somebody turn the wheel while you lay on your back under the front and watch everything move,, you will see what is wrong allmost immediately

It is most likely your panhard bar...or track bar. The one that is parrallel to the axle. They need to be as tight as a breaker bar can make um!

Its your track bar mine does the exact same thing with my Kore lift its because it isnt long enough..... Im not sure if something was changed in 06 but the bushing in the track bar is not very strong mine is wearing out fast causing noise...... Try putting a good lubricant or grease on it and I bet it goes away.... Only true fix would be new trackbar.

well heck we are having loads of fun here at TAMU! flex plates, steering components...fun fun fun.

Yes SPEEDSHIFT wants to rip my FASS off tonight so we'll already be playing with trucks. SPEEDSHIFT's diagnosis wasn't right last night though...gotta watch him we were close just never got around to pulling the bell housing cover

I would have to say track bar....these trucks are notorious for them. theres several aftermarket solutions.

Check shock eyelet bushings....though these would be more of a rattle than Pop. ANY loose or slightly loose bolt could cause this. Seen it all the time at the Nissan Dealer on suspention items. BUT Panhard Bar (Track Bar) would be tops on my list......have someone cycle the steering and look at the ball and socket end to see if there is ANY play....also keep an eye on the bushing end...i have seen thoes ware funny and have play as well....I was lucky enough to get "Death Wobble" on mine...to force my wife into letting me have a TBK and an '06 pandhard bar out of our shop truck! haha......

Tierod ends.....look at them...but usally don't pop....if they are greased...and you would notice the 1/2 turn of play in the steering if it got to that point! Shouldn't be too hard to find......just use a friend to help you look under the fnt end when cycling the steering.......

Hey hey, its not fixed yet... you are real lucky with just a flex plate. I was telling my pops about it and he said he has had them go through the floor I sure do hope thats all it is though, now is you opportunity to upgrade the output shaft also.

I cant wait to get my hands on that FASS either I wont rip it off, it will be professionally removed.
