P 0088 and Loud Injector Pump Noise

P 0088 and Loud Injector Pump Noise

This is my first post here, but I read allot. I have learned a great deal here, and being a new diesel owner, this site has been a savior.

I have a 2003 2500 Cummins HO auto. 93000 miles

When I started my truck the other day, it was VERY loud and has an P 0088 code showing. What could this be? I am not driving it right now, until I figure out what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DTC P0088, Fuel Rail Pressure (FRP) Too High... I wouldn't drive it for sure, but I am at a loss as to what you do. 3rd gen guys will come to the rescue...

Yea, I found what the code meant, but I have no idea why it would have high pressure. Thanks for the help, and hopefully someone will know what causes it. The noise I get is the normal sound, but much louder.
