Question Operator error engine code??

When I started (or attempted to start) my engine this morning, my spastic fingers slipped on the keys and the engine caught but didn't continue to run the first time, I just turned the key again and started the engine, runs fine...but I have an engine malfuntion light now. I turned the key on and off three times, revealing the code..PO191 ... haven't found this code on any of the lists Iv'e searched up on two forums...still looking (obviously), anyone who can tell me what this code represents would surely be appreciated.

2004.5 California 600 engine 2500 medium sized trailer puller. (Oh! a silver one)

Thanks for the forum and in advance for any response.

I don't know what that code is, but I can say that if it was set by accident, it will disappear after about 3 successful engine run cycles (start, run, off x 3). The successful run cycle is what is ambiguous because the shop manual talks about different scenarios that make a "successful" cycle. i.e. run time, engine temp, etc.

When I had a code set for something similar (forgetting to connect the sensor lead on the intake tube after removing the silencer ring) the check engine light went away after 3 relatively short (couple minutes or less) engine runs.

Make sure that you're searching for P zero one nine one instead of P oh one nine one. Some codes go away after 3-4 trips, my overboost code did that.

I had this code after I had the same thing happen trying to start the truck. I found it somewhere in a list of generic codes for all vehicles. It basically was a error code for something like low fuel injection pressure. I disconnected the batteries and the check engine light went out, but the code remained. I have read that 40 start cycles clears the code and that is what happened. I don't have that code when I check now the only code I have is the 0514...like a lot of other people in cold climates.

I think you'll find that the code will disappear on its own. I don't like the way you have to crank this truck to start it. My 2002 would fire right up, but this 4.5 really has to be cranked to get it running.

Well....Thanks to all for responding, it means I'll decide to continue with holiday plans while I continue to research and clear the code. Merry Christmas!!

P0191-FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR PERFORMANCE
When Monitored:
At key on.
Set Condition:
The fuel pressure sensor reading at key on does not match the expected fuel pressure reading at key on
Possible Causes OTHER DTC'S PRESENT FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR FUEL SYSTEM TAMPERING INTERMITTENT CONDITION
Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. (Refer to 9 - ENGINE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)
Diagnostic Test
1. OTHER DTC'S PRESENT

With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Are any DTC's present?
Yes
Repair other DTC's first.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1 (DIESEL). (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES/ENGINE CONTROL MODULE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

No
Go To2

2. FUEL PRESSURE READING

Using the scan tool, monitor the actual fuel pressure reading while the key is on and engine is not running.
Is the actual fuel pressure reading greater than 870 psi?
Yes
Go To3

No
Refer to the INTERMITTENT CONDITION Symptom (Diagnostic Procedure). (Refer to 9 - ENGINE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1 (DIESEL). (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES/ENGINE CONTROL MODULE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

3. FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR

Visually inspect the fuel system components for signs of tampering, pay particular attention to the fuel pressure sensor on the fuel rail and the fuel pressure sensor wiring harness.
Were any signs of tampering discovered?
No
Replace the Fuel rail pressure sensor.
Perform POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST VER - 1 (DIESEL). (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES/ENGINE CONTROL MODULE - DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING)

Yes
Restore Fuel system to original condition.
