P2509 Error Code
I have 10,500 miles on my '03. Started it up two days ago (temp about 20) and pulled out of the driveway and she quit. She would start but not run longer than 5-10 seconds. The tank was down to 1/8 but I know I still had fuel in it. Had it towed to the dealer who said the tank was "bone dry" and that my fuel sending unit was bad and he ordered one. He said I could pick up the truck. I picked it up and it ran fine. The next morning, the same thing happened. This time I have 1/2 tank and I KNOW it has fuel. It starts and shuts off. The error code is P2509 "ECM/PCM Power Input Signal Intermittent".
Any ideas what this code means???
Thanks for the help.

Probably a bad connection to the engine computer. It's got two power feeds, switched/key and constant. The motor won't run without the switched key power on. Long story short, the computer can detect if the power leads aren't solid. That code should give the dealer something to look for. Before bringing it in check the battery terminals, all the fuses, all the relays, and the PCM connector itself (if it's easily accessable).
This is the second instance of P2509 I've seen. Interesting. Anyway, according to the powertrain diagnostics manual, page 248, it's "Powerdown data lost error".
Set condition: loss of voltage detected at the ECM for a calibrated amount of time.
If you don't trust your dealer to perform the diagnostics, I recommend splicing a volt meter into the following power pins on the ECM:
Connector C2 (polarizing pins are at the bottom of the connector): 20, 30, and 40. Those need to be +12. Pins 21, 49, and 50 are the grounds.
Run the voltmeter into the cab so you can watch it all the time.
