Funny you should have the same problem a co-worker of mine had two days ago. He has a blown head gasket, on a 93' model.

Did it get hot? Running high boost?

It sounds like a head gasket or a crack in the head or block to me. Do you have oil in the antifreeze or antifreeze in the oil? Any abnormal sounds?

Good Luck!

Isnt there an external cooler somewere on the truck that has antifreeze/oil running through it? Maybe it cracked? Sorry for being so vauge, but something is sticking in the back of my head about reading that on here before.

Yeah Jake, there is, but I don't know if they put it on the 92 trucks. They put it on the automatics, from 94 up, and it's tranny juice and radiator juice in there. If it cracks you should only get coolant since that's what surrounds the piping for the tranny juice. But the crack could be someplace where the two circuits meet, I suppose.

You also have an oil to antifreeze cooler located underneath the plate that holds the oil filter boss. Once you pull the plate, you will see the thing inside the side of the engine block. They can perforate over time and allow oil and water to mix.

Another good reason to keep you coolant changed. It will keep the pH level correct.

Yes... There is a oil cooler under the oil filter.

I'm going to say though IMHO that its a head gasket more than a cooler problem.

How much oil in the coolant? I replaced the head gasket on the '92 I used to have, there was an oily substance in the coolant in the radiator and the plastic bottle. Didn't do it any more after the head gasket was replaced. If there's a lot of oil in it it could be the oil cooler, though.

Maybe you should start with the oil cooler... Hmmm... Yeah I know I was think head gasket but... If your seeing oil in the coolant and no oil in the crankcase....

Was there any coolant in the oil??? (You might drain a sample)

It might be worth a look at the oil cooler it might be easier to check first... Then the head gasket...

I really don't think it's the cooler. You don't normally get any external leaks when the cooler fails. Having oil and antifreeze all over under the hood is classic head gasket failure. Check the cooler if you want, but don't waste any money on it.
