Fuel MPG gone...oil everywhere...Need shop in King of Prussia PA

Omfg.

So I am driving to work today.
I have my box set on 7 where I always drive and I am driving at 2k RPM where I get the best gas mileage.

Then I notice all of a sudden that the idle is a little off at stop lights and my fuel consumption has plummented.

Plummented to the tune of like 3 MPG.

So I figure ok....must be the fuel system has given out, I will fill it up get to work then go home tonight and upgrade the fuel system...seems like a common problem.

So I go another 32 miles to the office and just as I get there "CHECK GAUGES" lights up on the dash. When Idleing, my oil pressure dropped to 0.

So I shut it off, sit in the middle of in the intersection for a minute thinking about what to do, start it up and drive the .2 miles to the office. Oil pressure stayed at 30-40.

So I get out of the truck....oil is everywhere....down the side, glued to the tail gate, dripping from the undercarriage......

***

I need a line on a good shop in King of Prussia, PA that I can get this thing towed to and looked at. I live in MD....62 miles away!!!!!

Here's the results of a Google search for Dodge dealers in King Of Prussia:

Hope this helps.

Sounds like a defective injector.

eww....dealer.

I think Goodyear would prob be a better choice than that

j/k of course, I just know a dealer won't even look at it today if I have it towed there.

OK, here is your problem. You have a cracked injector that is leaking thru and filling your crankcase with deisel fuel. Are you under warranty? If so get the tuner off prior to taking it into the dealer. If not you will become your own warranty company and injectors are around $800 each from the dealer plus labor etc. I am guessing you already know the drill but just in case you don't. It will take at least a day to get parts and truck will be down for 2-3 days at least. Dodge will only replace the "Broken" injector and do no further tests to see if any others are going south or even borderline unless something has changed in the lst 12 months. Probably 1 or 2 months later you will lose another....and so on. And yes this is sometiomes a problem caused by Boxes &/or tuners so be prepared to pay the piper if it is discovered that you have one on the truck.

Your check gagues light came on because the oil is so thin that it didn't register any oil pressure till you gained some RPM to re pressureize the system
so keep that in mind if you plan on continuing driving it that way. All you are doing is shortening the life of the engine until it's fixed.

Good luck..............

PS. If Dodge gives you a terrible time over this you might want to contact a local Cummins shop, cheaper repair and they don't care about tuners etc. but it'l be your dollar if Cummins and they cannot "talk" to the electronics that Dodge has installed.

Sounds about right.

I'm out of warrantee I am just shy of 70k miles.

Fuel pressure was acting funny running at 14 when accelerating on and 18 when maintaining speed.

I passed the remote diagnosis along to the shop I found to look at it....but they won't look at it till tomorrow (and its my own freaking brother in law) so he is looking into injectors for me.

*sigh*

OK at 70 K the 100K 5 year Cummins warranty should be still in effect.

Engine--injector---engine part-----etc = 100K warranty ??????

Just a thought and if the results of your tuner aren't obvious maybe a dealer item to repair.

And just a quick way to diganose, check the oil dipstick, very overfull more than likely an injector.

being stuck as far as I am home from homebase, without tools, makes it difficult to 'remove' my modifications, couple that with the holes that will remain in the firewall and in the dash where controllers are mounted, the most dealers (except maybe the one I bought it at) would not repair it under warrantee.

I'm just going to fix it and add upgrade injectors so this doesn't happen again.
