Off road Diesel (#2)

Before I get slamed by the Diesel cops here read before you flame.

I was up in the stripping pits here collecting scap metals and somehow going over an embankment I punched a hole in the plastic fuel tank,we got it patched up using a rachet strap and a piece of tire but the only way to get it out of there was one of the dozer guys gave me about 5 gallon of #2 diesel.

I ordered a larger 56 gal replacment tank http://www.transferflow.com/Dodge_mi...uel_tanks.html

Will that hurt anything on the truck? It looked clean and I added diesel clean to it before we added it.

Drove about 15 mile on #2.

There was no way to get reg diesel unless I wanted to walk and leave the truck,it would have got striped and lit on fire before I got back.

No..... You will not hurt anything on your truck. Red Dye #2 diesel is just that. Red Dye #2 Diesel...............

Red Dye is added just for tax purposes. Well, non-tax purposes really.

We have LSD at work and it is red. The fuel man told me that they do not even have ULSD in red form yet. .02

My biggest concern now is that the fuel was dirty, looked clean(no dirt) but it was in a D9 cat and I have no idea how clean they keep there fuel(water).

Least I got it out of there, one more thing to carry now 10 gal of diesel and a tire tube, the 450 ish pounds of copper was worth it though, got $2.80 a pound for it the bad part most goes for the new fuel tank , sok pulled about 800 pounds of copper wire and about 300 pounds of tin out of that air hole already.

I'll post some picts after we get it cleaned out,if anyone is intrested.

You can be almost certain that with a close to a million dollar machine that's purpose is to make money that they only use clean fuel.

I agree. Heavy equipment are very high tech nowadays. As much, if not more than our pickup trucks. They use clean fuel.
