Re:no over drive
Big&Bad,
I'm having EXACTLY the same problem with mine, I took it to a fellow who hooked it to a computer and quickly told me that there was a short or open circuit in the O/D solenoid... We played with the plug on top of the tranny and now it works...I had taken it to a different shop before and spent over $1100 and she still didn't work...I think the solenoid was the only thing they never touched : Sheesh... Hope this helps, I know exactly how you feel. I'm planning on stuffing a standard in my truck...

Re:no over drive
First off I think the tranny guy is screwin you but - I may be wrong. Spiztair probobly nailed it on the head.

If the tranny guy already has it apart - ORDER A DTT OR ATS TORQUE CONVERTOR.

If you order the DTT get a valve body also. The ATS TC w/o a valvebody upgrade is the same price as a DTT and a valve body.

If your gonna do it - do it right!

I got 241,000 hard miles out of my upgraded tranny. You can do the same. You can also turn up your motor with an upgraded TC and VB.
