No Oil Pressure
No Oil Pressure
Hello all. Have a little problem I hope someone can help with. I started my truck about 30 minutes ago and jumped my Bobcat with it. After that I got back in and my check gauges light was on. My oil pressure gauge read zero. I shut it down and waited a second. Started it again and the pressure climbed to normal then dropped to zero after about 10 seconds. Oh, I checked the oil first before the second start and it was full. Any ideas? I thought pressure sending unit, but it reads normal for a few seconds after start up.

Thanks

Cole
Re:No Oil Pressure
Check your oil pressure with a mechanical guage. I suspect you fried the old 'puter. It is best to never jump start anything with any of the Dodges built after 1993. The computers are a bit sensitive to spikes.
Re:No Oil Pressure
My gauge is acting up too. It won't come up and turns on the Check Gauges light and then goes to the max with the key off. Got to get the engine SN and get a new one from Cummins. DC wants $189 and they have to order it from "CUMMINGS".
Re:No Oil Pressure
Does the oil pressure light work normal? I had a problem after an oil change. The light worked normal but the oil pressure gauge was close to zero at idle and followed the RPM's on speedup. I concluded that the sender unit was the problem. I changed it and the problem was resolved. You might have a sender problem.
