New LP in Tank Solution or Another Problem
New LP in Tank Solution or Another Problem
After only 7,000 miles on another lift pump I swapped over to the new "in tank version." I noticed right off that my fuel psi is too low. I have questioned several mechanics and they say that I can add an in line pump in front of the new pump. I have my doubts because a high pressure pump will simply out work the new pump in the tank. I am aware of the Draw Straw system but was curious to see if others have encountered a similar problem and what their solution was.
These are standard results.
I just went through this myself.
Look on E-bay and find an old pick-up that was removed to install the intank unit, get a Vulcan Big Line kit, and get yourself a Holley Blue pump or equivalent.
Replace the sending unit to remove the intank pump.
Mount the new fuel pump to the frame, just in front of the fuel tank.
Run all the 1/2" line to replace the steel line and banjo bolts.
Enjoy the fuel pressure and reliabilty of the better fuel pump
