New guy needs HELP!!!

Hey guys, you all seem pretty knowledgable on here and I have a problem. I'm pretty sure its the IP, but the truck just died, no warning no nothing, shut off, thru a code, and now it just cranks. I get fuel out of the lift pump into the filter canister, but nothing out of the high pressure side of the IP. We tried to read the code but the reader couldnt communicate with the computer....is there any chance the computer died instead of the IP??? It's a snap-on code reader so its not a cheapy and they said the only other time they havent been able to read codes on something was trying to read a rice-burner. Any suggestions would be great....either that or its bigger and better IP!! Thanks

Its a '99, Edge comp drag box, 80hp injectors, cold air, 3 peice exhaust manifold, 4" exhuast. I unhooked the drag box to see if that was messing up but it still wont start. We cant read the code, it wont let us in to communicate with the computer.

your guess is probley right, BUT with out the codes read you can't be 100% just 95%. I would want the codes readed before spending $1100

My 99 did exactly the same thing. We were able to get the codes but when we tried to clear them the truck kicked the scanner off line. The Snap on scanner worked ok but it got kicked off too when trying to clear the codes before we replaced the IP.

From what I've gathered, and just my opinion, the ECM fails very rarely. At least 1/2 of the dealers I questions about the problem wanted to replace the ECM first. Now would take it back if it proved not the problem.
