i had the check engine light come on today yet again and its coming up with the codes 0500,1492,1693.. i had it idling and it started to miss i figured since i had a spare fuel filter hanging around i swaped it out and it seemed fine after that then on my way home i was driving down the road and my tachometer stopped working and the truck seemed gutless then a few seconds later it went back to normal the check engine light was on again and it comes up with the same codes ....any ideas i really would like to avoid takin it in to the shop but might just have to be ive got lots of heavyduty exsperience but this computer stuff has me baffeled

0500 will happen if you had spun a tire, 1492 is accelerator solenoid malfunction 1693 is just a companion code try and restart it 3 times and let it run a minute between starts see if the CEL will go out might just be a glitch could also be a cam sensor maki the tach drop out
