Need Battery Cable Fast!

I need a negative battery cable ASAP. Dealer says special order only. 2-4 days (which in reality means 2-4 weeks) been there done that.

I'm going to put a repair lug on tonight but I don't trust em for too long but its better that he vice grips on there now!

Jay

Re:Need Battery Cable Fast!

Just get a "STEEL" cable end from NAPA. The lead ends do not last long.

Re:Need Battery Cable Fast!

NAPA will have a complete replacement cable for less than half the cost of DC Dodge.

Re:Need Battery Cable Fast!

Don't ask for a cable for a Dodge. just ask for a genaric negative cable the length you need . Even Walmart has em on the shelf .

Re:Need Battery Cable Fast!

WalMart I don't think so. The Factory cable is 3/0 or 4/0. A standard battery cable is 1/0 at best. These babys have to handle better than 700 amps. I know darn well they wouldn't put such a thick cable on it if they didn't have too.

Thanks for the reply tho.

Jay

Re:Need Battery Cable Fast!

Forgot bout that --just remembered seeing some on a rack at Walmart . I normaly build my own using welding cable and soldering new ends on it .
but ----you may have some luck at a truck stop, or a parts house that caters to large trucks .

Re:Need Battery Cable Fast!

Try a welding shop they might have a welding lead cable that would work. I know they have preety thick cable and you can buy it by the foot and put your own ends

Re:Need Battery Cable Fast!

Hey TnT thanks for your offer. That is VERY kind of you. I really appreciate it.

After calling just about every dealer on the west coast it became very apperant that this item is not stocked by them. I also discovered that they are back ordered 2-4 weeks from the factory. (I knew the first dealer was telling me a tall tale )

The good news is once I had the "correct" part number (another dealer story ) I was able to locate them over the internet from parts.com. They network a large number of oem parts houses. I found the cables in stock in New Jersey for 1/3 what the dealer quoted me. ;D Should be in my hands by the middle of next week.

As a side note I also talked with a local InterState Battery dealer who will make me a cable if I need it sooner. Nice bunch of guys.

Thanks again

Jay
