Are My Wheels Steel or Aluminum?
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 CTD. I was in a wreck last week and have to replace a wheel. I need to know if my wheels are steel or aluminum so I can get the proper replacement. Can anyone tell me which ones I have? Thanks.
They look Aluminum to me, how thick are they?
If they are ~3/8-1/2" thick, they are most likely aluminum.
If they are 1/4" or less, steel
Chris
Oh Yeah
, Heres the easiest way!!
GET A MAGNET, if it sticks, steel. If not, Aluminum

Same wheels I have. Pretty sure they are aluminum. Try knocking on them with a metal tool ( a wrench works well). Steel and Aluminum sound distinctly different when struck. This is based on my expierience with scuba tanks. they sound very differnent when knocked or banged on. Also the steel will be heavier than aluminum.

I found one at a salvage yard here for $130. You think someone's selling an individual wheel for less than that here?

You should almost be able to find a set of 4 for that price. Check ebay and salvage places on-line (do a search on Google).
