More noise's and a cracked exhaust manifold

I can't believe all this is happening. While hunting for the noise in front of the engine, I discovered a cracked exhaust manifold. I put a glove over it and could tell that's not my other noise. What cause's that to crack. Also in that same area it sound's like a sewing machine hammering away. Again, I don't think it's the manifold. What's over on that side.

I did take it to the dealer earlier today before all these other discoveries. He listened to the engine for 10 second's and said "water pump. It''s making kinda of a hollow can sound". They're going to change that tomorrow. Anyone have any idea's here. The Bad Ramer Jamer is turning into a Bad Pooper Scooper.

I don't know about the other noise but the cracked manifold, unless it's covered by warranty or you just can't live with it who cares. They are usually small cracks that never really open up anyway. One of these days when I finally get around to tapping the manifold for the EGT probe I'm just gonna use my crack for the drill point.

This is about a 3" crack. I can feel the exaust coming out of it. I HOPE it's covered by warranty. But I'm sure they'll try to say it's from me washing the engine or something. But like ol' Bill Clinton would say,,,,I DID NOT have a washing relationship with that engine.

If you can feel the gas coming out at idle, I can imagine how much gas and drive pressure you are losing to the exhaust turbine. I would get it fixed and soon. A good replacement option is the ATS 3 piece manifold.

Looks like the manifold for a 04 is a 2-piece. Anyone running one of these. I guess I should slow down. Hopefully they'll cover it, cause I sure can't put out any cash right now. What would be the ill effect's if I didn't get it changed right away.

Cracking of the exhaust manifold is all too common. As long as you have a warranty it is part of the powertrain and is covered.

Do not operate a B series Cummins for any length of time with a cracked exhaust manifold. What the cracks do is create heat stress points for the head, and can lead to much more significant problems such as pulled or broken manifold bolts and cracking in the exhaust runners of the head itself.

The two piece ATS manifold is great, but if you have a warranty use what Dodge offers.

take a look in my gallery for a "cracked manifold" that never really opens up The padding on the hood and the engine around the crack is BLACK. Smoke puff on startup and bad fumes Just replaced today.
