master cylinder replacement

I've gone through the posts, via search, but I'm still kinda nervous about this whole thing...I just bought a new master cylinder, because I'm pretty sure mine just went out. I'm 200 miles from home, and I have to be back on monday morning. Also, none of the auto parts stores around here had my chiltons in stock, and mine is back home...200 miles away, along with all my tools. I've got a few that I can borrow from a friend, but there's a lot of stuff that I don't know what's going on with it. I've got a 2001 Dodge 2500 CTD, with the 5spd manual. in the clutch master assy box, it came with the master cylinder, a silver pushrod, a white plastic washer, a foam washer, a small black rubber washer, and a little metal pin...I've got to get this done tomorrow, and I'm kinda nervous about doing it without any prior knowledge. Also, since I'm not replacing my slave cylinder, since I can't, because they can't get one in in time, am I going to have any issues connecting my master to the slave? Any help you can give would be great, since I have to do this tomorrow with basically no tools.

You say slave cylinder, this indicates to me you are speaking of the clutch MC.
Normally the clutch master and slave come together as one unit.
Fact that yours isn't one unit makes me wonder if you are getting the right part.

yeah, sorry, I meant to type in clutch cylinder, it was getting late, and I was getting frustrated, clutch didn't make the cut...lol
the part is correct, but I bought it at kragen's so they only gave me the master cylinder, unbled. I' m about to try and call a dealer around here to get both parts, and see if i can do that.

if you can find a dealer that has it on hand you can get the whole assembly, that will make it much easier.

if not then you should be able to use what you have. there is a little roll pin that holds the master cyl. to the line going to the slave cyl. remove the roll pin and separate. when you try to reassemble, as you put line onto the new master cyl. push the slave in a little bit to bleed the air out of the line, you may need to push the master cyl. in a little bit to make sure you have all the air out of it. then just slip it together and put the roll pin back in. its not really that hard, but can be kind of a pain to get everythign in position and get the air out while slipping it together.

good luck
