Lost 5th gear in 98 manual tranny
I was on the way to work this morning when the engine RPM suddenly surged in 5th gear. I have all the other four gears, but when I shift to 5th, it's like I put it in neutral. Any ideas as to what happened and where I might get it fixed?

tranny shop can do it, but it is not that hard of a fix if you have basic tools and some time. If you go to quad4x4.com they have a kit to fix it.

There are two types of NV4500 owners. Those that have lost 5th gear and those who will. Welcome to the club of the former.
How far away from Ft. Worth are you? Standard Transmission will fix it right.
