Unhappy Lift Pump ???????

Ok here is the deal, drive the truck and everything is good. Put truck into Neutral and rev it up and it sounds like it is missing and white smoke is coming out. No Engine lights are on and like I said put it in drive and it runs like a champ, blows the black smoke. This lift pump has about 65k on it and the Injector Pump is original with 92k. My fuel filter has about 12k on it could this be the problem??

Did you have it scanned for codes? That would be the first thing to do. Check with your local auto parts store and see if they will scan it for free. Once you get the codes (if there are any), then you can talk to a dealer for repairs.

I would make sure your lift pump is actually providing fuel , not just making a pretty buzzing noise and doing nothing.

As far as the white smoke goes in a no load condition unless your loosing coolant I wouldnt worry about it.

If you have noticed heavy smoking under load as well as rough idling etc I would think the inj pump is fubar...

You dont even have to do that....with a 2001 turn your key on/off three times and end up in the on position....your odometer window will flash the codes if there are any. It may not necessarily give codes....running a box without a fuel pressure guage is a . Good luck.

Well the put the new VP in today and it is running great. My question is what casued my VP to go out in the first place. The only thing on the truck is a Power Puck,, I've run the truck out of fuel about 6 times but that is over a 92k miles. Just thought I would ask.
