Unhappy jumping out of OD

Hi guys
I just had the trans rebuilt the trans guy said the it was not talking to the brain so the electrical shop change out the brain everything fixed. Going down the road 55 to 70 it shifts out of over drive and starts jumping around. Took it back to the trans guy he rebuilt the valuebody again fixed. did the samething again ( Randomly ) Took it back to the electrical guy 3 times for this problem . He has traced burn wires, bad diode , crank senser, he only has been charging me for parts so thats good . But just got the truck back 4 days ago and after driving it for 1 day out of overdrive it jumps. So now they think it is the crank sensor any thoughs . I am running out of money and time . Its a 97 auto Mike ( buckskin ).

It sounds to me like your Throttle Position Sensor. Seen it more than once and that's the exact symptoms.

Make sure your battery terminals are clean and tight.
Check the grounds on and around the PCM, again, clean and tight.

99% of the time it's electrical noise messing things up.

If that doesn't fix it, start looking at the TPS like above poster mentioned.

Somethnig els to look at is the brake switch , mine would kick out the OD mostly when driving over a bump in the road , the peddle and sw. where too close so a little vibration would rattle the peddle and ingage the sw. and turn off the OD & curse if it was on.
Or maybe a chafing wire going to your / its brain.

stop talking to them at the shop right now!....they will try and make u pay for all kinds of crap.....it is your TPS sensor...it is located on ur driver's side on ur pump....it is a lil plastic box...u can't really miss it....the TPS thing happens to everyone at some point or another......do a search on throttle position sensor and find out how u can adjust it and prevent things from happening again.....i unfortunatly ultimatly had to replace mine....pricey unit....BUT THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH UR TRANNY

Buckskin -- I have a 96 auto don't know how close to the 97 it is but - mine did the same thing for no reason . traced it to a faulty OD buttom (Switch) on the dash.. simple as that... I changed that out and haven't had the problem since. Got a used switch from the salvage yard for $12.00

I hope this cheap fix helps you....

Update junping out of OD

First off I would like to thank everyone for all the help. Well the truck has been back in the shop twice now I just dropped it off. They pull a noise filter on the tps and did not act up on them . But they are putting on a scope and code readed they said the tps was not acting up ? So I picked up the truck and ran fine from the shop to the house. Got in it the next morning drove it 2 miles to the highway got it in OD starts jumping in and out for about 15 mile then quits no more jumping in and out of OD. Ran fine all day next day something but it only did it one time. The shop is going to hook it up and drive it first thing Monday morning. ( code reader & asilascope )(sp) There thinking tran temp seneor or Tps . I think this time they want to make sure its the tps ($ 258.00 ) Plus Hemlockusa I,ll tell them about the OD switch and have them check that too.

I had the same problem. It would go in and out of od. I cleaned the tps by making a hole in the cover and spraying electric switch cleaner in it, it's been working fine since. I made the hole using a hot finish nail. I thought a small drill bit might plastic shavings inside. I covered the hole with a piece of electrical tape in case I need to do it again some day.
