Installed a VP$$ and now i have a leak

ok, installed a used vp44 in my 99 and i have a leak somewhere what appears to be behind the support bracket for the pump.

i have made sure that all lines are tight. it is fine until the lp starts working, ie... crank the truck for a few secs, shut off, lp comes on....shortly there after fuel starts dumping out

any ideas, desperate here

When you crank the truck and it doesn't start the lift pump will run for 30 seconds in some case. I can't tell you why?

Could the fuel return line have become brittle with age and cracked during the Transplant?
I understand that's not all that uncommon.
