injector line broke!

2001 Cummins 6 speed

I was driving home last night and the truck started running weird like it was not firing all cylinders. I pop the hood and see diesel squirting out from the #3 injector line. It looks like it broke about halfway between the pump and injector. Is this something that a dealer would carry? Is there a temp fix I can do to at least drive the truck until I get a new one?

Thanks for the help!

No temp fix you need a new one. Cummins would be my first place to get one.

It happens. I've seen lines patched with compression unions. It's not pretty but they made it into the shop under their own power. If you need to use the truck it won't hurt anything. The Dodge dealer can get one for you but they will get it from Cummins and mark it up some more. Go no Cummins' website and find your local Cummins distributor. Call them and they will ship you one, when I order parts from the Harrisburg warehouse I usually have them the second day.

Same thing happened to me. Mine came apart at the injector. It was caused by a loose line clamp that I kept forgeting to tighten up. It vibrated itself apart.

Dodge wanted $59,,,Cummin's GOT $24.

Well, this one was $80 from the Cummins dealer. I spent 2.5 hours trying to install it and gave up. I had it towed to Cummins and the mechanic ended up removing all of the injector lines and got this one installed. And this is the amazing part...they didn't charge me to do any of it!!! Now, THAT is service!
