I have codes 1693 & 1689
This is kinda long..
I was getting injection timing error code and a 1693 (I think). So I had the truck looked at down at the dealer and they told me I needed a new VP44. So I went and had a new one put in.
After I got my new IP installed it ran fine for a few days, and then it started missing like the pump was going bad again. (But I had no codes) So I changed my fuel filter yet again and installed a fuel pressure gauge. While I was installing my FP guage I tried to start my truck with out having the wires to the VP44 pluged up because I had forgot I unpluged them to start with.
Now I have my gauge in and at idle I have 11 fuel pressure, and I am also getting error codes 1693, and 1689. Are the codes because I tried to start it with out having the IP plugged in? or do I have to buy something else? Is 11 at idle good or bad?
Thanks,
carl

Yes. the code you got is no connection between ecm and vp44, does it run now? and if so how? did the dealer put on a L.P. also? did they test it? what kind of pressure at w.o.t.?

Dealer did not install the new pump, but the truck does run.
It has not been cutting out on me since I installed the new filter, and gauges.
(But I only drove it for about 3 miles)
At WOT the pressure drops down to about 4-5.
After all of the money I have spent on this truck in the last year getting
things fixed every little thing makes me paranoid now.. lol

I know your PAIN. I would want to do some thing about that pressure 4-5 is getting to low. ether a new stock, a holley blue helper or go for the fass. IF it were mine I would put a blue on it, it will cost you $110 for blue and fittings and about 1 hour labor. the stocker will cost 150 to 200 and about 30 to 60 min. The fass is around $500 -600 not real sure on that one or time, i haven put one on before ( just herd the BIG -BOYS TALK) clear the codes and see if they come back, but I think your OK
