How to reset ECM codes?

I'm getting a 0216 code (VP mech timing failure) and am still under warranty. I also have a 0234 code (overboost). How can I get rid of the over-boost code to avoid any warranty issues?
Thx,
Roy

Autozone

You might go to an Autozone and selectively clear the overboost code. Perhaps buying a code reader/erase tool.

I highly doubt you can clear an individual code, it's all or nothing.

Clear them all, and if the 0216 is really happening, it will come back ASAP.

Whatever box you have/had on there that resulted in the overboost could still traceable, and therefore be warranty denying.

is your overboost code caused by a performance box? if not, just leave it and warranty will fix the problem

Yup, I've been using an Edge comp and unhooked it when I started having problems during a process of elimination. The problems continued without it
so ruled out the comp. I suspect that the overboost was set with the Comp out of the system but with the boost elbow still in-place. If I reset the 0234 what information would void the warranty? Note: I did not tap the VP.

If they dig deep enough into the ECM they might be able to tell you had the untapped Comp on there.

Really depends on the Dealer.
Definately clear the overboost code, and remove the boost elbow before taking it in.

I just picked up a Actron ODBII scanner at Advance auto parts for $128. It has on screen code definitions and is internet updateable plus it can erase codes.

Any suggestions on a friendly dodge dealer in the Denver area and/or ones to stay away from?

If you didn't have the wire tapped you will be fine (warrenty wise), if it was then you won't like what the dealer has to say.

I didn't tap the wire, was waiting for the warranty to expire. Plenty of power without it anyway. I use the power for towing not racing. Actually, I'll get one of those covers with the wire connection. One thing I am considering is letting the dealer replace the pump, sell it to someone needing a pump at a discount, get thier bad pump and get the upgraded pump from Blue Ridge (I think thats the name).

I used the scanner and erased the codes. It doesn't allow selectively deleting codes as was suggested earlier. On a single trip to work and back yesterday, had a problem with dead pedal on the way home and the code 0216 came back twice. I'm removing the boost elbow this morning and will get it scheduled for service. I'll post the results. Appreciate all replies to my problem. There is obviously alot of expertise on DTR.

I'm using Burt Dodge down in Parker. They're on Lincoln just west of Parker Rd. The Diesel tech was very good about walking me through the work done on my truck and answered a ton of questions. They have been pretty good to me so far.

Oh, and I stay away from Chesrown Dodge (I think they're an Autonation now) on South Wadsworth next to Phil Long Ford (STAY AWAY FROM THERE TOO (I used to work there)) And there's a Dodge Dealer on South Broadway near Littleton Blvd that won't have any more of my business either.

Good news, the dealer is going to replace the IP under warranty. I'm wondering if they put in a brand new IP or a remanned one. I'll ask on Monday. They are recommending that the injectors be cleaned as well, as they may have gear shavings in them, the cost was around $250. I declined this as I might better spend that on upgraded injectors. Anyone have issues with gear shavings in the injectors? First I have heard of that issue.

All you can get is a reman. And I haven't ever heard of shavings from a IP. What about the lift pump? If they do it they will want to put an in-tank one in. most people don't like them, your fuel pressure light will stay on at any think over an idle.

They put an in tank pump in a couple months back, before I knew any better. I've got a Holley blue boost pump between it and the IP pump, good pressure since. I think the shavings deal was probably to get some cash from me to offset the warranty work.

The tech's only make about 1/2 on warrenty work, as to what you or I would pay, so I'm sure your right on the wanting some $$ out of you. I've got Dad's truck with a in-tank and a holley blue on it, and he has good pressure also.
