High idle - Sluggish response & Check engine light...

After a -15 deg (2 day) cold start Trucks now experiencing the following symptoms...

1) Idle instantly shot up to 2000+ & Check engine light activated.

2) No response or Sluggish/delayed response while pressing accelerator.

3) As the engine warms the symptoms vanish & check engine light goes out.

4) Symptoms reappear on most cold starts.

5) Symptoms do not appear when the block heater has been plugged in.

Noticed similar DTR posts claiming a failing FCA as the likely culprit but wouldn't warmer/hotter engine temps affect a failing FCA more than colder engine temps?

Is there anything else I should focus on here?

Hmmm... just replaced the filter at the end of November. I've had a plugged filter issue before and only experienced poor acceleration and/or stalling. Never experienced high idle issues and a check engine light activation. Nor did engine temperature or running the block heater affect how the plugged filter performed. Hate to throw money away since the current filter is so new. I suppose a $22 filter would eliminate the long shot. (Has anyone found less expensive oem filters outside the dealership?)

Finally following up on this issue I posted a while back... As it turns out I replaced the fuel filter with an OEM filter (not another AdvancedAuto fuel filter) & all's well! Had this issue once before but never had a check engine light acctivate. Always learn'n something new on the DTR Forums - Appreciate the advice guys!
