hey i need asap help

I dont have a cummins anymore. but what better place to come to for the nv4500, I have one behind a 6.5 turbo diesel in a gmc.. Its stick in 5th gear. shifter moves around and acts like its in N but wont go into in gear including 5th. it stays in N but is actually in 5th. I had to limp the truck 3 miles home in 5th. Any ideas on what it can be? its 4x4. any chance on a possible swap to the nv5600? I need to get this truck back on the road. I just started a new job and cant afford to loose my truck for long

sounds like you lost a roll pin in the shift fork. not too hard to repair if I remember right, but its been a while.

If you take the top off the tranny, you should be able to see if the fork is moving with the shaft it rides on, if not, then there is your problem

sounds to me like its stuck in 5th gear. i just had that problem recently in my dodge nv4500 the connecting rod that goes from the shift tower to the fifth gear shift for gets a groove in in from going in and out of fifth gear. it will feel like u can pull it out of 5th but wont move. u will need to pull the tranny out and change that rod and u should be good. i went ahead and rebuild mine while i was at it. call 509-276-2998 some guy in oregon best prices i have ever seen on these parts and great quality let me know if you need anymore help.
