HELP! SHE's DEAD
This truck has never seen any upgrades at all.But has been in a wreck which was then rebuilt agian, only difference is the salvage title. Tried the old tps earlier today just hopeing somthing woul happen..........nothing again, just cranks over and over and over and over...........This thing is driving me nuts! Whats the clicking noise i should here? How? Can you supply me with more info on that? Dont recall hearing a clicking sound. Say...no clicking= bad pump?? Just a thought!
OK.
1) Turn the ignition to the "ON" position.
2) Unplug the harness from the MAP sensor.
CE light will go on
3) Plug the harness back into the MAP sensor. You should hear an audible "Click" from the inj. pump. This is the pump electronics turning the pump "on" -- energizing the solenoid I suspect. The click resembles a starter solenoid sound.
If you don't hear it, it doesn't necessarily mean your pump is bad, but it means the pump won't inject fuel. The pump will either be 1) dead, 2) not geting any power, 3) not getting the correct info from the ECM.
It may be worth sending the pump to a Bosche shop or a Cummins dealer (or even a dealer!) to test. They can place it on a stand and test it.

I'll try it and see what happens and get back to you guys later and let you know what happened. How much do they charge to test those pumps?? Any body work at a Cummins dealer in OHIO??
Tried the "click deal" it didn't do anything whne i had the key on, unpluged the map sensor and pluged it back in. However when you turn the key on you can clealy here the "click" from the pump over the lift pump. If that tells you any thing...how much is it to have a vp44 checked at Cummins? Any other ideas from any one or things i could try? Any way to test the ECM?
