Angry HELP! SHE's DEAD

NEED HELP!!! my dads 01 2500 auto was acting up a month ago, we thought it was the tps acting up on it. Well i replaced it and that went away until 2 weeks ago when she died!!!!
The day it quit he said it ran fine on the way home as long as he held the pedal to the floor. I read the codes and checked for fuel pressure.Dicided it needed a new injection pump. Got a used pump that was a take off with 375m on it. Put it on the other day but now i'm not geting any fuel presure to the heads. lift pump is pumping 15 psi. Any ideas??????????

At the risk of sounding dumb, did you check the lift pump?

I take it you cracked an injector to let it prime? I would assume it's not primed but who knows. Maybe the injector pump you have now isn't working properly. If the lift pump is working, and you're getting fuel past the filter, that's the only thing I could think of.

The 1st and 3rd injector was opened 2 turns the first time we tried and after that we just tried the 1st injector thinking that the 3rd was to much but still no luck!Man i miss my 98 12v! Are you using a P7100 pump on a 24v? I'm curious.

What codes are being set? Check Enginine light on?

Are you checking the fuel pressure pre- or post- filter? What's the pressure at the injection pump?

Are all the supply and injector lines tight at the injection pump?

Are you sure you've got diesel in the tank? Might the fuel be gelled?

Are you sure the pump timing key was installed correctly (arrow toward the pump), and is the right key for the pump?

Provide as much info as possible -- you're not giving us much to go on!

Good luck!

Codes that i pulled before and and after i replaced the injection pump(0216 injection timing control circut malfunction- in other words internal injection pump failure)(0121 tps voltage unstable)(1689 Manufactures control circut Malfunction) There is no check engine light on, But trans light is on. Fuel presure checked and it's 15 psi at the Vp44. 3/4 tank of diesel and it's in a 65 degree barn. No gelling.Injection pump key #is the same as the pump # .045. The arrow on the key is toward the pump. All lines are conected and checked many times. ANY BODY WANT TO START A SALVAGE YARD WITH THIS 01?????????? I MIGHT!

I don't wanna sound stupid, but I'll take a stab at it. When I took out the pods and put back in the old injectors, I figured it would start like it did when I put the pods in, didn't have to break a line to bleed any of them, turned it over a few times and powered up. So I put the old ones back in, tightened everything back up, but it wouldn't hit a lick, lossened the nut on #1 and tried it, and nothing. I found that I had to "jiggle" the injector line at the injector to get it bleed fuel. Did it on all 6, and runs like a charm. Try backing off the nut 3-4 turns and break the seal of the line on the injector, might make a mess, but it may work. I may get some rolled eyes, but I'd at least try it.

Got to thinking... the vp44 i bought was said to be off of a S.O. 02, by any chance that it came off a H.O. would it still comunicate with the ecm on the truck?? Good question hmmm.

A HO pump will communication with the computer from a SO. I know of several folks who have HO pumps on their SO.

It sounds like the pump is really dead! Strange how you aren't getting any fuel at all. Almost like the fuel solenoid in the pump isn't advancing (e.g., the fuel pump isn't turning on). A couple of additional questions:

1) Do you have an add-on box that taps into your MAP sensor? Without a good ground at the MAP, the pump won't come to life. You might want to try this: Turn the key on, and unplug the harness from the MAP sensor. Then plug it back in. You should hear a click coming from the pump. You'll get a CE light, but at this point....

2) Perhaps you are getting too much fuel pressure at the pump? This has been known to happen. Try turning the key to "on", wait 20 secs., then turn to "start."

3) Maybe crack open all lines, and as PumpDaddy says, make sure they are backed-off a little.

4) Do you still have the original TPS? Perhaps there is an internal short in the new one that is preventing the pump from working? Re-install the original and see what happens!
