Help me with my 2001 HO
Hi guys. I've been having some trouble with my truck. Its a 2001 2500 HO/6sp. About a week ago, I pulled out of the neighborhood and the truck fell flat on it's face as soon as I hit 3rd gear. No power, won't rev, surging, very pronounced miss. I limped to a parking lot and pulled the codes. Got 1492, 1693, 1689, 0230, 0216.
I replaced the VP44 and the problem seemed to be solved, until today. I was leaving work for lunch and the truck did the same thing. I was able to limp back and again pulled the codes and got a few more in addition.
p1492 - Ambient Battery temperature sensor circuit low
p1693 - Companion code
p1689 - No communication between ECM and injection pump
p0122 - Throttle position sensor switch a low input
p0237 - turbo boost sensor a circuit low
p0230 - fuel pump primary circuit
p0216 - injection timing control circuit
In addition to the surging, low power, and heavy miss, I've noticed my lift pump is not running (and it was running this morning, it's loud enough it's tough to miss!). By the way, I'm running a Holley blue mounted on the frame rail. I've also got a Powerpuck that I've disconnected but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Truck will start and idle just fine, and seems to be okay until 3rd gear, when the engine starts to actually work a little. It's like it's starved for fuel, which makes sense since my LP is now not working.
But I don't get it with all these codes. Is my ECM fried? Could it just be a loose connector at the ECM? Or do I really need another VP, LP, APPS, ECT... ???
Any insignt is appreciated.
Dave

Connections look good. Clean and tight.
I'm 110% certain the VP44 key is aligned correctly. I was very careful and used a mirror verify it was lined up.
I replaced the fuel filter when I changed the VP44 last week. I even removed the canister from the engine and cleaned it as well. The old filter was still pretty clean after the 7k miles it had been in service (I usually change them every 10k).
I did find that my Holley pusher is toast. ECM is still sending 12.64 volts on startup and when I bump the starter. Verified with my multimeter. Removed my Holley and hooked it straight to the battery, it does nothing.
I'm ordering a Raptor.

Like I said in my other post, I think the holley is restricting the flow if it has failed. Pull it and see of that helps. IF you have amother LP it is struggling to pull fuel through the dead LP. So it is barely feeding the VP. My suggestion would be to start by either replacing the holley blue or pulling it out of the system (if you have another functional LP in the loop).
