Help, Looking @ a 2001

Looking at a 2001 3500 auto cummins. The owner said and its what the computer shows is it only get 13 mpg empty. That can't be right, can it? My truck gets 18 mpg around town. Otherwise the truck is in sound shape. It only has 25000 miles on her. He wants $26,000 for it. I think thats kinds high! I will be checking at the bank today. Any opinions will be great. My concern is the fuel miliege.

Thanks, Kimrey

Is that what your computers are reading or is that for real?? I don't have a '01 but I get over 15 at least (thats considered bad). I wouldn't put to much faith in what the computers are showing, I do all my figures by hand.

Can't say that I would knowingly buy a truck that averages 13mpg. There are too many other trucks out there with better performance in the MPG area.

Keep looking. This seller is asking to much for the truck.

Mine gets 16 in the dead of winter and 18-20 in the summer. Even with 4.10's, 13 MPG is poor if empty.

He must be getting his readings from the computer. I have an 2001 & get 18 hwy, 16 around town, & 11.5 towing my 32ft 5vr. Thats calculated by trip meter fill up to fill up with a texas calculator.

Herb is having a hell of a time battling DC on getting his pump replaced on his truck. The Cummins dealer already stated that he has a bad VP thats why his mileage is so low, but DC cant find a code (they have thier heads up in brown land) so he's getting crap for mileage right now. Hopefully DC will stand behind him soon like they should have several ... too many visits ago.

Picked my "barn sour" truck up from dealer again tody (third time this week) . they replaced the APPS today and it actually feels like we may have struck on to something that has helped. It definitly seems to have a lot more get up and go to it.
plugged my new ez edge in to it and it seems to make quite a difference to.
Leaving for Tenn tommorrow afternoon so will be able to tell more after this trip.
Have an appointment to get it back to the dealer next week for stabilizer bar bushings in the front and window channel rubber in the front door.
The dealer has free coffee and popcorn.

Guys thanks for the replies! So some get terrible miliege and some don't. I know mine gets 18 around town, the computer actualy shows 19. I think he is asking too much myself, and the fuel miliege is way to low. All tho there were no codes on the computer. Thanks again for the replies, I was trying to get a feel for the fuel miliege.
