Help!!!! KDP getting fixed?????

Hey guys....I am going on vacation in 3 days with my truck. I am currently killing the KDP. It was sticking about about 1/8 inch...so im glad that im doing it. My question is how far does the pin normally go into the truck, far as i can go is flush....im going to start making my plate....so i will be on in about a hour or so....so it would be awsome if someone would respond quickly.....Thanks guys

They usually go a little past flush, but flush is OK.

Mine is a 24v manufacture date 8/98 --

Isn't that a gray area for KDP?

Mine was out about 1/8", and it took a hard hit with a drift pin to send it home, about 1/16" out. Going nowhere now.

Nope. Every '98 build date truck I've done had the OLD case.

Just did my 98 24Valve today. Had the old case. Pin was not coming out, and I tabbed it.

Pretty easy job, I found that a shaved down (on a bench grinder) 10mm box-end wrench works awesome for removing the 1 problem fan-bracket bolt behind the fan pulley.

Also, I put the truck in Reverse and chocked the wheels in ordeer to break loose the 4 harmonic balancer bolts.

Yes. It's not as common, but they have been known to drop out.
