Fuel Leak
Fuel Leak
Truck isn't driving good. I have to go to work in the morning and I don't want to ruin the injectors/injection pump/etc. How can I find the leak?
Is there something I can put in the fuel that will allow me to detect it?

can you see anything wet under the hood? take a look at the high pressure feed line, and the #6 crossover tube line, they would be two that are a little harder to see at first glance. Make sure you don't try to loosen the lines with the engine running!!!!!
looking at the thread, you just had the dealership swap injectors. How much do you trust them to do a good job?

I have been looking around the high pressure lines with the engine running and I can't see fuel coming out anywhere. I used a flashlight to look at the rearmost injector line and nothing on it either. I smell diesel pretty strong under the hood and the truck idles rough. The truck shakes at idle.
Not sure on the dealership. I am new to this area and have never used them before. They are the big dodge dealer around here and sell a lot of diesels so I figure they knew what they were doing. They had the injectors in stock so I assume they do them on a regular basis. I talked to them on the phone and they said to bring it in Monday but I have to drive in the mean time. Should I be worried about driving it?

I'm thinking it isn't an injector line or I would have seen it. The ch-ch-ch-ch-ch- sound seems to be coming from the fuel rail area. What puzzles me is that I can't SEE the leak anywhere.
I will continue to check around the fuel rail area. Any other ideas?
I just had an injetor problem, so i was searching for my symptoms, but I read in another thread that someone else's rattle was actually that the fuel line hold down wasn't tight. Not sure how that would lead to the fuel smell, but would be a good place to check for the noise.
I think I may have found a problem. I think my fuel/water seperator was open?!? The lever was out but the manual says that closed is "in". Is that normal? When I close it it drains fuel out of the hose. HELP!

Its still dark out here, but i'll check mine when I go to work. Before you flipped your lever, did you notice any fuel coming out down around the framerail where the drain hose dumps out at?
Did you go to the dealership yesterday?
