I have heard of some guys having this problem if they fuel up with the nozzle on full blast. I think they said it can bend the fuel level sender.

You may be right on that, it was the sender they replaced....and it probably was me because I pump the fuel....Thanks for the reply

Thumbs down I think the sending units are junk,,,,

Don't feel bad poogan,
I ran mine out not too long ago when my gauge was still showing almost 1/4 tank. (related thread here)

I'm not trusting mine anymore without checking the trip meter to varify the mileage. I have read posts of folks who have removed their old senders and repaired them and said that they have not had the problem happen again. You might try and do a search of fuel level senders.

I'm hoping to get the chance to pull mine out and see what exactly went bad on it to determine if it can be repaired. From what I've read,,,,,,,, it is a very common failure in the CTD's as well as the gassers.

Smile Add me to the list ... BUT

I had the same problem about 2 weeks ago, but then it started to go down. It stayed on FULL for 4 days in a row. But the problems seems that I went from 12MPG in town to 15MPG on that tank and the needle just did'nt move for awhile. Maybe that is the "problem?" with yours.

When they stick on full sometimes a swift kick or a rubber mallet to the fuel tank will unstick it.
I don't see how filling too fast can effect it since the sender and float is enclosed in the tank module, fuel can only get at it from the bottom.
Filling the tank too full can cause it to stick on full though.
Probably the reason why the manual says to only fill to the second automatic nozzle shutoff.

I had the same problem about a month ago. I got under the truck and kicked the hell out of the tank like infidel mentioned above. That took care of it. Good luck.
