When any code is set in the PCM, or ECM, a code is set in the other control module.
Example.
The PCM sets a code saying Rear Wheel Speed Sensor out of range (might be a temporary code that is erased next key cycle), the PCM also puts a code in the ECM saying "Hey, I've got a problem over here,, 1693!, 1693!"
Same thing for the ECM, when it sets a code, it tells the PCM, "Hey, Yo, everything's not well in paradise, 1693!, 1693!"
So, when you pull the codes, you see a "1693", which means, either the PCM or ECM had something wrong with it, either temporary, or permanent since the last reset.
Many times a code is set because of a brain fart. Maybe a sensor doesn't respond when the computer think s it should, maybe there is a rare circumstance that the engineers didn't plan for.
Unless you ahve a Check Engine light blaring in your face, and the truck runs differrent than stock, I wouldn't sweat bullets over it.

A easy wat to get the P0500 & P1693 codes...
Roll start the engine in third gear... The computer doesn't like it because the fact the truck was rolling during a start up process. So since it can't zero the speed sensor it throws the code. It has no effect to the truck other than the two codes showning up...
Now under the hood you have a fuse panel... There are two ECU fuse (7 & 10 I think it's been awhile...) you can pull them and wait about 15-20 minutes and reinstall the fuses and the code will be wiped...This is a nice way of clearing codes if you don't want to lose your stereo settings, clock, etc.
