Difference between 47RE and 47RH, can I swap them?
Well the trans in my 95 grenaded...and I have a lead on a 47RE, but I know the electronics are different, what would it take to swap them?
What went on the 47RH? Broke the main case? How much for the 47RE, you can use the parts to build a 47RH.
The 47RE will not bolt in and work without a stand alone controller, it is also shorter than a 47RH as it has no hydraulic governor. So that means the drive shafts would not be the correct length, one too short and the other too long.
You could however make the 47RE into a 47RH with some work if your not afraid to tear into a trans. Or you could have someone else do it. You will need a good overdrive section off your 47RH to do it.
First difference is the main case has a larger hole for the connector coming through, not a big deal. Dave Goerend has a bushing to take care of that.
Next, the OD piston retainer does not have holes in it for the governor oil tubes to slip into. The easiest thing to do is get a sonnax replacement. Now the trouble is the whole trans has to come apart to get at it. It's one of the first things that goes in the case when you put trans together.

I will not mess with another trans, did one, and it will be my last. Thanks for the answer though, I was hoping it was just an easy bushing and valve body deal but I see it isn't. Thanks Mike.
