difference between 46re and 46rh, how can you tell?

My Transmission is out on my '02 and a buddy is building his engine for his truck that is a 97 that used to have a v-10 in it that he thinks is a 47 re.But from the year shouldn't it be a 47rh? he says it has an electrical harness going to it so does anyone here know? he said he would loan me the trans while I build mine. What i need to know is will it work? my trans ,bythe way, has a TV cable going to the throttle on the inj. pump. Does that go to the valve body? any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Joseph

Hi, if I remember right, the RE transmissions came out in 96. They can be identified by the governor speed sensor on the left hand side. I believe it is located toward the front of the extension housing, pointing somewhat downward. Sorry I don't have a picture.

Not sure if the bell housing pattern is the same between the diesel and V10.

The RE models will also have a large 8 wire plug that is up by the shift shaft.
