crank no start

Alright its been getting chilly out here the past two nights, and low and behold to try to start and nothing. It cranks and cranks, rananananananannnna, and nothing. Ill let it sit cycle the key twice more and try again, rananananananananana, nothing. Then a third time, ranananananana, some go go pedal, (to the floor) and pop pop pop pop pop, then smoothe as silk idle..... I dont get it each time i crank it is for a good 45 seconds.....

here is what she is: 100 plate full forward, no afc, 370 injectors, 16* timing (checked it yesterday to make sure no slippage).... any one have any ideas? this is getting old on me... its oly 48 degrees right now and she dont start...... ***!!!!

Had the same trouble on my 03 this morning- turns out my batteries were strong enough to turn the starter but not start the truck. I figured this out by plugging the block heater in for about 45 min and it started right up.

Booster

Try shooting some WD-40 into the intake. There are some 1/8" pipe thread plugs which people use to hook up a boost gauge located on the side of the intake, above the pt7100 pump. Unscrew one of these and give a 2 second shot and see what happens. It burns like diesel, flashpoint wise; so if it fires right up you have a problem of not getting any fuel. If it doesn't.......the problems are a little more $$$$$ cd

ok will try. a lot of people think it is the return lines of the pump or some how air is getting into the pressurized portions of the pump

My bet is the return line in red below. They can suck air but not leak fuel. Your fuel pressure will still come up when cranking but the pump will still be air locked.

If it's over freezing there, the grid heaters shouldn't have much effect.

It's possible for it to suck in air at the fuel heater if it's melted or damaged. Unhook the electrical connector from the element and see if it's wet with fuel there.
