I did the code check on my truck(thread :2001 Cmmins diesel smoked to death!) The code I got was P1693. Can anyone tell me what this means?

It means there is a DTC in your JTEC controller.

 

It's the code letting you know there is a code.

We have 2 main computers, the ECM and the PCM, and often they aren't on speaking terms, so that code is present in one telling you the other computer has a code.

You'll need a code scanner to find it.
Find someone in you area with a Smarty, or take it to the Dealership.

I have that code (P1693) coming up on mine too as well as P0122 ( I know is TPS) and P0720. I did a online search for the P1693 yesterady after I got that code come up on mine and found it said: Engine Control Module.

I am having problems w/ my Trans shifting. Don't want to till RPM's are at 3 and sometimes still don't so I wonder if any of my 3 codes is the issue to my problem.
